About Djurs Sommerland

  • Founded in 1981
  • Located in the middle of Djursland in East Jutland close to Aarhus and employs over 600 employees in the open season.
  • Owned by the brothers Henrik B. Nielsen and Michael B. Nielsen, the sons of one of the park's founders.

About the Park

  • Djurs Sommerland is Scandinavia's largest summer land. The park is the fourth largest amusement park in Denmark and the second largest outside of Copenhagen.
  • In 2019 Djurs Sommerland opened the tallest and fastest ride in the park's history. Tigeren is Denmark's biggest Gyro Swing.
  • The park is divided into 9 themed areas: Piratland, Bondegårdsland, Mexicoland, Vikingeland, Westernland, Vandland, Sommerland, and Wild Asia
  • Djurs Sommerland has Denmark's largest roller coasters:
    • DrageKongen (2017) - Europe's fastest and longest Family Suspended Coaster. 
      30 meters tall, 85 km/h, 825 meters long 
    • Juvelen (2014) - Denmark's longest roller coaster and only double-launch coaster.  1 km long, 85 km/t.
    • Skatteøen (2011) - North Europe's largest water coaster. 
      28 meters tall, 70 km/h through air and water, 22-meter dive into the water.
    • Piraten (2008) - Denmark's largest and fastest roller coaster. 
      32 meters tall, 90 km/h, 755 meters long.
  • Also, Djurs sommerland has a huge Aqua Park and over 60 rides to suit all the family
  • Djurs Sommerland has big green oases and fills an area corresponding to 70 football pitches
  • EUR 55 million has been invested in new rides and improvements in the park since 2008.

  • April 2015: Djurs Sommerland was nominated as Denmark's best amusement park by CoasterClub Denmark
  • March 2015: Djurs Sommerland won as Scandinavia's best summerland 2015 on Sweden's biggest travel site Barnsemester.se.
  • June 2014: Djurs Sommerland won as Denmark's best amusement park by Berlingske Rejseliv.
  • May 2014: Juvelen - Denmark's longest roller coaster længste won as one of Europe's three best new rides in 2013. Behind the award stood the world's largest expert panel of 700 members from Germany's largest roller coaster club - Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks (FKF).
  • March 2014: Djurs Sommerland won as Scandinavia's best summerland 2015 on Sweden's biggest travel site Barnsemester.se.
