Brand new themed area

Dinosaurland – a brand new themed area with three new attractions and 25 roaring dinosaurs.

Scandinavia’s biggest summerland has some exciting new attractions for dinosaur fans young and old, when the gates open, and Djurs Sommerland welcomes you to a big, new themed area – Dinosaurland. 25 fascinating, lifelike dinosaurs, a huge, uniquely designed dinosaur playground, a new family roller coaster, a jeep safari in the dinosaur reserve and finally you will once again face the iconic King Kong.

Families from Denmark and all corners of the globe can look forward to enjoying some wonderful experiences in Djurs Sommerland’s 42nd season. This year, the amusement park welcomes a new attraction of considerable proportions – the largest project to date in the park’s long-standing history, and one of the largest ever at a Danish tourist attraction..

Developed in collaboration with international specialists
Dinosaurland, the park’s tenth themed area, has been developed in collaboration with international theme park specialists from the Leisure Expert Group in the Netherlands with the ambition of creating a new and unusual dinosaur experience, unlike those experienced at safari parks, zoos, and museums.

“We can’t wait for our guests to experience Dinosaurland. The bar is set high to ensure our guests an out-of-the-ordinary experience, they’ll drive a long way for. This not only applies to the theme of the area, but we’ve also selected some great family rides. In addition, the fact that Dinosaurland can be experienced together across ages and generations is a great asset. Three-year-olds, 13-year-olds and their mothers, fathers and grandparents will have fun here,” says CEO Henrik B. Nielsen.

Theme and storytelling
There is so much more to Dinosaurland than a mere dinosaur exhibition. The new 20,000 m2 themed area is built up around a story, where palaeontologists from Dino Inc. invite guests inside their dinosaur camp, after they have made an outstanding discovery. Not only have dinosaur bones seen the light of day, but what they believed to be fossilised dinosaur eggs have hatched, and now the dinosaurs are alive! Two new rides take visitors on an exciting journey into the dinosaur reserve, where they get right up close to 25 realistic, lifelike dinosaurs, while a huge dinosaur excavation playground provides space for imaginative play and physical fun.

The 25 dinosaurs include the well-known and popular species, including T-Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Citipati and Edmontonia. They have all been carefully selected from one of the world’s most talented manufacturers, Billings Productions in Texas, USA, which specialises in making animatronic dinosaurs that look particularly real and lifelike.

New family rides and a reunion with King Kong
The new Dinosaurland roller coaster, the T-Rex Family Coaster, sends 38 visitors off on an expedition at a time, and it is shaped like a giant drill, that takes a shortcut through rock walls and whizzes around sharp bends, close to dangerous, lifelike dinosaurs. The T-Rex Family Coaster is for the entire family, and with a minimum height requirement of 100 cm, even the youngest members of the family can join in.

The expedition continues in Dino Xpedition, when 16 jeeps, seating 4 people in each, head out on a dinosaur jeep safari. A surprise reunion with King Kong awaits along the way, before a dangerous Megalosaurus is close to breaking out of its enclosure. The ride is for everyone, however children under a height of 110 cm must be accompanied by an adult.

As an additional dimension in Dinosaurland, families with young children can also look forward to a huge, specially designed dinosaur excavation playground, which is divided into five play and experience zones with different levels of difficulty. Physical fun and imaginative play when young palaeontologists are given free rein here as the playground is explored and the giants of the past are excavated.

Season 2022 is going to be exciting
”After our record number of visitors (820,000) in 2021 and the interest shown in visiting Djurs Sommerland, we’re really looking forward to opening. We’ve already sold a record number of Season Passes, and the order book with reservations for companies and schools is filling up nicely, too. Things are also looking good, when it comes to holiday tourists, and international visitors holidaying in Jutland are showing a lot of interest in visiting Djurs Sommerland,” concludes Henrik B. Nielsen.
